FCI Develops Economical D-SUB Shielded Hood Series
ETTER, P.A. (April 23 2008) FCI, a leading supplier of connectors and interconnect systems, expands its range of high-performance, traditional D-sub shielded hoods with an economical series. This new product is ideal for indoor signal or power applications requiring robustness and/or high EMI/RFI performance in the industrial and telecommunications markets.
The simplified connector design results in a lighter connector and allows for reduced assembly time, which can yield up to 20 percent reduced total applied cost while still providing the high level of performance that FCIs customers have come to expect.
This D-Sub shielded hood is designed with an optimum number of pieces: two half-metal covers in zamack (zinc alloy), two jack screws, and a steel fiber-reinforced plastic strain relief for EMI/RFI screening and mechanical cable retention. The strain relief works with cable diameters from 4.0 mm to 13 mm. With just two screws to fasten, assembly is fast and easy, allowing for reduced labor costs.

The D-Sub shielded hood series is available in 9-, 15-, 25- and 37-position versions. The hoods can withstand an operating temperature from 40C to + 120C and are UL94V-0 qualified.
FCIs full line of D-Sub hoods includes plastic, metallic coated plastic and metal straight and right-angle versions.
