BT 3500 Battery-Hydraulic Hand Tool
More Than a Ton of Portable Power in a 1.4 Pound Hand Tool.
TE Connectivity is pleased to announce the launch of the newest
member in their power tool line up. The BT 3500 hand tool provides the
operator with an impressive 3,500
pounds (~1.500 kg) of crimping force
in a compact, portable design.
The BT 3500 is an ergonomic marvel as
its unique design positions the battery
and pump in a separate unit which can be set onto a work bench or worn on
the operator’s body in many different
ways. There is an included shoulder strap
and an optional belt, which can be used
by itself or with an optional four-point
harness.
There is also an included convenient
carrying tote, which can be carried from
a “lunch pail” type handle or can also accept the standard shoulder strap. The
tool can even run while in the case. The
compact size allows for many variations
so the operator can use whatever is most
comfortable for the task at hand.
Separating the power leaves the crimping
head portion of the tool a mere 1.4
pounds (~ 600 g), which is the approximate
weight of a traditional hand tool.

Finally, a lightweight tool that delivers
the power required for crimping! The
small head offers incredible flexibility
and the ability to reach
into tight spaces. As an
added convenience, the
crimping head can be
rotated to nearly any angle, allowing the operator
to identify the most
comfortable position for
the job.
Another feature is the
quick terminal take-up.
This allows the operator
to quickly and easily
locate a terminal into the head and hold it in position.
This makes it much easier to position
the wire into the wire barrel and begin
the crimping process. Other solutions
require the tool to be partially cycled in
order to close the dies and capture the
terminal prior to crimping. The TE quicktake
up is quick, easy, and effective.
Despite the lightweight of the power
unit, the tool can produce over 200
10 AWG (5 – 6 mm2) crimps between
charges. This is made possible through a
ten ounce, 10.8 Volt Lithium-Ion battery
that can re-charge in 25 minutes,
thereby giving plenty of time for production.
