TE Connectivity Raychem Heat-Shrinkable Cable Entry Seals
Raychem cable-entry seals (CES) combine watertight, fume-tight sealing with cable strain relief at entries to connection boxes, bulkheads or other enclosures in marine, aerospace, military, and industrial equipment applications. The heat-shrinkable seals use factory-applied internal hot-melt adhesive to achieve excellent sealing to wire insulation and cable jackets.
The cable-entry seals are available in standard or NPT-threaded version in sizes from 0.187 to 2.5 inches (4.76 to 63.50 mm). The standard CES for thin-wall enclosures is a three-part assembly consisting of a rigid plastic nylon nut, an O-ring for sealing at the bulkhead and a heat-shrinkable polyolefin molded area for sealing on the cable. The threaded CES is an integrated assembly that combines a tapered thread in rigid nylon with a heat-shrinkable molded area. To accommodate both single and multiple cables, the molded area of both the standard and threaded CES is configured with from one to four openings to allow multi-cable breakouts.
Available in straight and right-angle configurations with sealing to 25 psi (172 kPa), the CES meets the requirements of SAE AS81765/1 Type 1.
Cable entry seals provide a watertight, fume-tight seal where cables enter connection boxes, bulkheads, or other enclosures.
